DTU , 8th April :
It is official now- the Delhi Technological University (DTU) students have finally ended the protest, bringing back the normalcy to the campus from today.
Nitin Baraiya, a student and placement coordinator at DTU said that, "Discussions with the newly appointed registrar and the student representatives took place in detail after which they have decided to end their protest on the assurance that the demands to meet the academic, administrative growth and improvement in quality of education are met. We also are grateful to the state government for providing the post of registrar on the campus."
He further added that, "As the government has taken steps to met our demands, so we have decided to end the protest but we do plan to carry out a symbolic protest for the central character of DCE."
The DTU students stretched the protest for almost a month against the conversion of Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) to DTU on the pretext that the change in status of the premier engineering institution of the country from that of a central to state university would hamper the career prospects ofstudents.
It is due to this reason that the students even boycotted their examinations seeking the intervention of the government, which also refused to address their demands.
The impasse was even joined by the parents of the agitating students who are now slated to meet the Chief Minister requesting her to meet the demands today.
